Ashes took everything about MTG in a battle card game and fixed it:
1. No “packs” hoping you get what you want
2. Resources don’t clutter the deck, they are dice, both players get the same amount every turn
3. No “monster turns” as players go back and forth one action at a time each round
4. No confusing “stack”
The phoenixborn theming is pretty cool too. I love the art on the cards. It just feels really nice all around and is everything I’m looking for in a card game.
Game plays in about 30-45 minutes.
